If you only have one day in Venice, make the most of it. Here is my 10-hour tip for a perfect day in this magical city:
9:00 a.m. - Early risers can start the day in St. Mark's Square before the tourist crowds arrive. Enjoy the morning flair when the first rays of sunshine are reflected on the square's marble slabs. 10:00 AM - Take a canal cruise to get an overview of the city. There are many providers who offer tours. You can either rent a private gondola or use one of the public boats to experience Venice from the water. 11:00 a.m. - Visit a museum or attraction. There are many great museums and historic buildings in Venice including the Doge's Palace, the Accademia Gallery, and the Peggy Guggenheim Museum. Pick one and spend a few hours exploring. 2:00 PM - Take a break and enjoy a walk through a neighborhood. The Castello district, for example, is a popular spot for tourists, but the lesser-known districts such as Cannaregio and Dorsoduro also have their charm. Stroll through the narrow streets, discover small squares, and admire the colorful houses built along the water.
5:00 PM - Take a gold cruise through the canals of Venice. There are many companies that offer tours like this and it's a great way to see Venice from a different perspective. 7:00 pm - End the day with dinner at one of the city's famous osterias. Osteria Alle Testiere or Osteria Da Fiore are two examples of great restaurants serving typical Venetian cuisine. Enjoy a glass of wine and a delicious dinner before heading out to catch your train or flight.
One day is certainly not enough to see everything Venice has to offer, but with this plan, you can make the most of your visit and experience some of the city's highlights.

Venice is easily accessible by train and the route is an experience. I also like to use the time to read a travel guide and get in the mood for the city, With a nice travelogue you immediately immerse yourself in Venetian culture, learn something about the history, and see which secret places you would like to discover this time. I don't like to plan far in advance because then I don't know what I want, so the time on the train is perfect for getting organized.
What particularly caught my eye this time was a demonstration of how to design gold leaf, and I'm particularly looking forward to it.
Arrived at the big train station in Venice Lucia I was glad for my old travel backpack. I had my hands free and can easily concentrate on the ship tickets. The small office counter is located right at the main exit and you can buy a ticket for the ship or a 3-day ticket or a weekly ticket. I wisely decided on the short route that I would be doing a lot of walking here.
The Hotel Torino (unpaid advertising) in St. Marko is an insider tip when it comes to central 5 minutes to St. Mark's Square and value for money. The small hotel with comfortable rooms also has a shared room for families and an external apartment for 4-8 people above the roofs of Venice on the top floor between Dolche and Gabbana and Gucci. The apartment has everything you need but is modernly furnished, unfortunately, the kitchen is not particularly well equipped, but you prefer to eat fine here anyway. perfect for multiple people or families.
The single and double rooms are furnished in Venetian style, small but nice and comfortable.
In the evening there are many good restaurants in the area, there is also a small supermarket and many beautiful architectural highlights. a large shopping mile with all the big brands in the world and small leather goods shops, Murano glass, and Venetian hand-painted masks in the side streets.
It devoured me in the restaurants' Piccolo Martini where I naturally tried the Venetian specialty Spaghetti Negro with black squid. It's delicious - but afterward, you're all black in the mouth and on the lips. Otherwise, the menu is varied with classics from pizza and pasta as well as traditional meat and fish dishes. the restaurant is successful mediocrity, the food is good and served quickly. After a long day of travel, there was a short walk across the market place and then the day was already over.
Day 2 City walk and shopping
Today I spent a wonderful day in the San Marco district. I've always wanted to stroll through the narrow streets and canals of the romantic city and today it was finally time.
My first stop was St. Mark's Square, considered to be the most beautiful square in Venice. The huge area is surrounded by impressive buildings and palaces, such as the Doge's Palace or the famous Basilica San Marco. It was an incredible feeling to visit this historic place and admire the architectural masterpieces.
After exploring St. Mark's Square, I decided to stroll the narrow streets and canals of San Marco. It was a beautiful walk through the quaint streets and bridges lined with charming shops and restaurants. I couldn't help myself and went into a few of the shops to buy some souvenirs.
Next, I really wanted to visit the well-known department store T Fondaco dei Tedeschi, which is located on the Grand Canal. The department store has been renovated and is now a wonderful place to shop and relax. I strolled through the different floors of the department store and couldn't believe how luxurious everything looked. There was a huge selection of international brands and products and I couldn't resist buying a few things.
After my extensive shopping adventure, I made a detour to the Rialto Bridge. The bridge is one of the most famous sights in Venice and offers a breathtaking view of the Grand Canal. I enjoyed the view from the bridge and took some photos to capture my memories of this unforgettable day.
All in all, my day in San Marco was an incredible experience that I will never forget. I experienced the beauty and history of Venice up close and was able to buy some wonderful souvenirs. I can't wait to come back to Venice and have more adventures.
Day 3 Murano and Museums
today was my third day here in venice and i had an amazing time on my trip to murano, a small island near venice well known for its glassblowing industry.
I made my way to the dock early and boarded the boat that took us to the island. The ride was so beautiful and I was able to enjoy the views of the surrounding islands and waterways. After about 30 minutes we arrived in Murano.
We were looking for the small glassblowing workshop where we had booked a demonstration via Get your Guide (unpaid advertising). The glassblowing was truly amazing and I couldn't believe how skillful the glassblowers were. We were given a tour of the factory and even got a glimpse of the manufacturing process. It was fascinating to see how they shaped the hot glass and turned it into beautiful works of art.
After the tour we had the opportunity to blow some glass ourselves. It was harder than I thought but it was really fun.
After the glassblowing industry, we visited the Tunankhamun exhibition in Plaza Zucccero. The exhibit was one of the best I've seen and I was amazed by the amount of information and artifacts they had. There were many interactive elements suitable for children and adults alike and really fun to explore.
All in all, my day in Murano island was truly amazing and I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to visit this amazing city.
Day 4 Gold leaf and Goldelfahrt
Today I visited the snail tower, also known as "Scala del Bòvolo". It was an incredible experience to see this impressive spiral staircase built in the courtyard of Palazzo Contarini del Bovolo. I couldn't help but be amazed by the architectural masterpiece, which dates back to the late 15th century and has survived to this day. The view of the city from the top was breathtaking and I couldn't get enough of it.
Later in the day, I had the opportunity to visit a traditional gold leaf art. The family business that practices and transmits this art form introduced me to their world and I was able to see how the gold leaf is worked and applied to create beautiful patterns. It was impressive to learn that only a few people in the world have mastered this art form and it was a real privilege to see this art live.
To end the day, I took a traditional gold boat ride through the canals of Venice. The ride was just wonderful and I got to see the city from a completely different perspective. The canals were full of life and the atmosphere was just magical. It was an unforgettable experience that I would recommend to anyone traveling to Venice.
I'm so thankful I had the opportunity to visit this beautiful city and collect all these precious memories. It was another wonderful day here in Venice and I can't wait to see what the next day has in store for me.
Day 5 in Venice - Farewell to the historic city
Today was our last day in Venice and we had to pack our bags and say goodbye to this wonderful city. We chose to travel by train as it is convenient and easy. From Venice we went to Zurich via Milan.
However, before we set off, we took a last beautiful morning walk through the artists' quarter of Venice. The narrow streets, colorful houses and small canals enchanted us once again and we tried to take in every moment.
On the way we enjoyed an espresso in a Venetian bar and enjoyed how lively and authentic life in Venice is. The people, the food, the music - everything impressed us and we are sure that we will never forget this experience.
When we finally packed our bags and made our way to the train station, we turned around and let the beauty of Venice sink in. We agreed that we will come back and then the Guggenheim Museum and the Modern Art Gallery are definitely on the agenda and maybe the Biennale.
Venice has enchanted us and we will miss this city and its inhabitants. But we also know that we will return home with wonderful memories
In conclusion, I can honestly say that my trip to Venice was one of the most inspiring experiences I have ever had.
Venice is a beautiful city full of history and culture, but what struck me the most was the intricate jewelry designs I saw on my trip. I visited the studio of a talented jewelry artist who presented her works in the narrow streets. Your designs were beautiful and I couldn't help but be inspired.
The architecture of Venice also impressed me and I found it very inspiring. I was amazed by the buildings and bridges that are dotted around the city and I couldn't help but admire the details. I found the different colors and textures of the buildings and rocks around me to be a perfect template for my own creativity.
During my stay in Venice, I also had the opportunity to meet other artists and admire their work. I saw amazing artwork and jewelry that inspired me to improve my own designs. I was fascinated by the diversity and creativity of the artists and am grateful for the opportunity to learn from them.
Overall, my trip to Venice was an unforgettable experience that inspired me in my work as a jewelry designer. I am grateful for the opportunity to meet so many talented people and admire their work. I will incorporate the impressions and experiences I gained in Venice into my future jewelry designs.
I can't wait to get back to the studio and work on new ideas inspired by my stay in Venice. I'm excited to see what the future brings.
